Thursday - 8.27.09
9am-2pm	Alumni Office Tent	Stop by the Alumni Office tent for information about campus and the Norfolk area. Alumni Relations Building (on the corner of 49th Street and Hampton Blvd.)
9am-4pm	Bookstore Tent Sale	Whitehurst Beach.
9am-7pm	Residence Halls Move-in (Freshmen)	Move in times are scheduled by last name. Please visit the OHRL website for your specific time.
11am-5pm	Freshman Service Experience	The Freshman Service Experience is an optional Week of Welcome event that introduces students to the Monarch Spirit of Service & Civic Engagement. During the day, students are introduced to the importance of service to the local and global community and spend time volunteering at one of several non-profits in the local area. (FSE is full. Registration is closed.)
1pm-9pm	Prize Patrol	WOW staff members will distribute prizes to new ODU students. Various locations.
6pm	Opening Dinner	Food, fun, and friends co-hosted by the ODU Alumni Association and the Office of Student Activities and Leadership (OSAL). The Ted Constant Convocation Center.
7pm	Golden Dragon Acrobats	The Student Activities Council (SAC) presents the "Golden Dragon Acrobats." The Ted Constant Convocation Center.
Friday - 8.28.09
9am-11:15am	Academic Advising	Academic advisors will be available on a walk-in basis if students have questions about their class schedule. North Mall, Webb Center.
11:30am	Spirit Rally & College Day (Lunch Included)	How much ODU spirit do you have? This Week of Welcome event is one you won't want to miss. This is your chance to learn the cheers and become a part of the Monarch traditions. After the Spirit Rally, you will have an opportunity to meet your fellow first-year students and faculty from your college. The College Day sessions (click here for locations) include information on how to be successful as you begin your career at ODU. Start the academic year in a positive way! Lunch included. The Ted Constant Convocation Center. (THIS EVENT IS REQUIRED FOR ALL INCOMING STUDENTS.)
6pm-8pm	Dinner	Cafe 1201.
8pm-12am	ODU After Dark: The Party	A casino-themed game night. Play blackjack, poker, roulette, and other great games! Everyone has a chance to win prizes including a free semester's worth of books! Also, come and meet the ODU Greeks and enjoy a free ice cream social! Webb Center.
Saturday - 8.29.09
12pm	Bus Trips	Take a FREE trip to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, Motor World, Ocean Breeze Water Park, or the Virginia Zoo! No registration required - just meet at the corner of Elkhorn Avenue and 49th Street; limited space available; first come, first served. **You must present your ODU Student ID to board the bus!
5pm-6pm	Res Life 101	Join your hall staff for an introduction to living on campus! Important policies and procedures will be reviewed and you will have the opportunity to begin to connect with the rest of your residential community. Signs indicating the exact location for each hall will be posted throughout your building.
6pm	OHRL Family-Style Dinner	Housing & Residence Life invites students to join us for a welcome dinner, served family-style. This is an opportunity for students to interact with faculty, staff, and other students over a great Italian dinner! This event will take place directly after Res Life 101 and staff will be on hand to escort you to dinner. Students in Rogers, Gresham, Nusbaum, and the University Village are invited to gather together for dinner in the Rogers Café; students in Whitehurst and Powhatan and are invited to join together in the Whitehurst Café; and students in the Quad and the Inn are invited to Café 1201.

10pm-2am	"Welcome Back" at the SRC	Late-night activites in the new Student Recreation Center!
Sunday - 8.30.09
4pm	Freshman Convocation	Your official welcome to ODU from the University President, faculty, staff and a keynote speaker. Family and guests are welcome. Freshmen, please wear black and white professional attire to this ceremony. The Ted Constant Convocation Center. (THIS EVENT IS REQUIRED FOR ALL INCOMING STUDENTS.)

Wednesday - 9.2.09
7pm-9pm	Gameshow: "Reality Check"	Realty Check is a fast paced trivia game show - questions related to alcohol and drugs as well as their consequences, current events, and pop culture will be included. Cash and other prizes will be awarded to student participants! The game show includes: interactive play, team building, competition, and fun. North Cafeteria, Webb Center.
Thursday - 9.3.09
11am-2pm	MainStreet	Student Organization and Volunteer Fair. Get information about the 200+ student organizations on campus, meet members, and find out how to join! Also, get information about various service organizations around Hampton Roads and find out how you can make a difference! Lunch included. Kaufman Mall.
Friday - 9.4.09
All Day	College Colors Day	Wear your blue and silver!
4pm	PAW the Pavement	Show your Monarch Pride by coming out to PAW THE PAVEMENT! Touch up the small blue paws all over campus, and add more around your residence hall! All paint and stencils will be provided, just bring your spirit and a smile! Go Monarchs! Kaufman Mall.
6pm	First Friday Pep Rally	The only pep rally of its kind! Come get in the football spirit by enjoying free food, live music from Boyce Avenue and The Deloreans, a rock wall, and the Monarch Marching band! As a special treat, our head football coach Bobby Wilder will also address the crowd, which is something you cannot afford to miss! Feel the Roar at the First Friday Pep Rally! Kaufman Mall.
Saturday - 9.5.09
3pm	Student Pre-Game Party	Food and fun before the game! Kaufman Mall.
6pm	First Football Game: ODU Monarchs vs. Chowan	Go Monarchs! Foreman Field.
WEEK OF WELCOME - RECEPTIONS
September 8th 3pm-5pm	Lavender Reception	GLBTQ Welcome Reception. Hosted by ODU Out and the Student Affairs Safe Space Committee. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to mix and mingle with others from the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, questioning, and straight ally community. Rector's Room, Webb Center.
September 9th 1pm-3pm	Women's Center Open House	Women's Center, Webb Center.
September 10th 12:30pm-4pm	OIR iMix	International desserts, board games, music, Wii, Rock Band competition, and multicultural connections. Office of Intercultural Relations, Webb Center.
